Free to Dry

  • This poster is announcing a local exhibition (titled “Free To Dry”) in which artists from all media have been asked to create a piece reflecting on the banning of clothesline across the country.

  • Clotheslines are associated with being poor, and so often, neighborhoods that want to look more upscale prohibit clotheslines. However, for many they are a necessity and are a part of daily life.

  • To be free is to not be under control or confinement, which was the main inspiration for this piece. I really wanted to convey how clotheslines are an important thing for many people of different cultures and social standings. Also, just because something is “ugly” to some doesn’t mean it isn’t valuable to others.

Homequarter

  • This project was to design a poster advertisement for a local business.

  • Homequarter Coffeehouse and Bakery is a family run cafe located in the Riversdale neighborhood in Saskatoon. All of their dishes contain farm fresh ingredients and compliment the wide variety of tea or coffee beverages they offer. A great place for relaxing or for students to study.

  • I live close to Homequarter and often grab a coffee or treat from them. There are poster ads are all over my building and they don’t do Homequarter justice so I really wanted to create something that would really express who they are.
