PUBLICATION

The Archive

  • This project was to create a color palette, cover, and nine page spread for a design magazine.

  • Typically I am drawn to more muted or neutral colors so I really tried to go out of my comfort zone with the colors I that I picked. My main inspiration for the color palette was the pink in the cover image that I had chosen. My favorite part about this project was finding photos. I wanted the whole magazine to have a strong theme throughout and I think I achieved that with the images that I picked.

National Geographic

  • This project was to recreate a spread from a well-known magazine publication.

  • National Geographic is a popular American monthly magazine published by the National Geographic Society. Topics of features generally concern science, geography, history, and world culture. The magazine is well known for its distinctive appearance: a thick square-bound glossy format with a yellow rectangular border.

  • I grew up reading National Geographic and that’s what inspired me to choose it as the basis of this project. It was really interesting learning about the typesetting techniques that they use and what makes their magazine so unique. I also enjoyed playing around with the formatting. This project gave me a lot of insight into what goes into making a magazine article.
